Heart of Midlothian FC midfielder Paul Hartley is struggling to be fit for UEFA Champions League qualifying as he nurses a groin injury picked up before last week's pre-season trip to France.

Coach concerned
"It's very, very bad news," said coach Valdas Ivanauskas of the 29-year-old Scottish international's injury. "The team needs Paul but we will not take a risk with him. I don't know how long he will be out for as it is too early to say, but I have a bad feeling." Hearts will face FC Shakhtyor Soligorsk of Belarus or Bosnian champions NK Široki Brijeg in the second qualifying round on 25/26 July and 1/2 August, with the first leg in Edinburgh.
