Barcelona's Jeffrén faces further absence

Jeffrén's injury-troubled season has continued after the FC Barcelona forward was ruled out for at least the first leg of their tie with Arsenal FC with a thigh tear that will sideline him for five weeks.

FC Barcelona forward Jeffrén is out for at least the first leg of their UEFA Champions League round of 16 tie with Arsenal FC after suffering a tear in his left thigh during training.

His fourth injury this season will sideline Jeffrén for around five weeks, having pulled up during a work-out on Thursday not long after team-mates had congratulated him on his 23rd birthday. He made only his seventh appearance of the season the previous night in the team's Copa del Rey tie against Real Betis Balompié. Barcelona travel to London to take on Arsenal on 16 February with the return leg set for 8 March.
