Arsenal FC defender Sol Campbell has revealed that he has fully recovered from his ankle problems and cannot wait to play for his new club in the forthcoming UEFA Champions League.
Arsenal debut
The England defender, signed from arch-rivals Tottenham Hotspur FC earlier this month, made his Arsenal debut in their 2-0 friendly win over Spanish side RCD Mallorca in Austria on Monday. Campbell played 10 minutes as a substitute in his first outing since damaging ankle ligaments in April.
'Relief to play again'
"My ankle is fully recovered but I need more time to play with my new team mates," Campbell said. "It was a relief to play again, even if it was only for 10 minutes. I've had a long lay-off since, but I've been in training for five days now and in a week's time I should be sharper."
'Exciting new challenges'
"Also, there is a buzz already about the Champions League and for me there are exciting new challenges ahead." Campbell is now in contention to play in Wednesday's friendly against Italian champions AS Roma in Graz.
