Former FC Bayern München defender Willy Sagnol feels the Bavarian giants must learn from their two final defeats in the past three seasons if they are to continue their recent upward momentum.
In a quick-fire interview, Sagnol told UEFA.com that Bayern have "worked in a consistent way for a long time now", but the club's 2001 UEFA Champions League winner warns they need to lift Europe's most coveted trophy sooner rather than later. "It's a culture," said the former France right-back, who represented Bayern for nearly a decade. "In Munich you have the winning culture.
"They are now in the top three or four in Europe, with very strong financial structures," continued the 35-year-old, whose playing career ended in 2009. "This allows them to really focus on the sporting side of things and nothing else. This is one key to success. They will need a European title very soon in order to continue their progress."
