Vieira worry for Wenger

Arsenal FC's Patrick Vieira will miss "at least two more weeks" after aggravating a thigh injury in midweek.

'A bit optimistic'
Vieira was not fit to start the game, but came on after 61 minutes with Arsenal a goal down. Valentin Belkevich soon made it 2-0 to the Ukrainian side yet Vieira played a significant role as the Gunners halved the deficit and went close to equalising in the final minute. Despite his captain's endeavours, however, Wenger said today that he had been "a little bit optimistic" in playing his fellow countryman.

Muscle problem
Arsenal's French manager continued: "Patrick has had a setback and he will be out again for a few weeks. We don't know what is happening with his muscle but he is not right." Vieira will definitely sit out the Premiership matches at Charlton Athletic FC and Leeds United AFC and possibly the Matchday 4 return against Dynamo.

Injury news
The defeat left Arsenal at the foot of Group B with one point from three games - five adrift of Internazionale FC and Dynamo, whom they must beat at Highbury in a fortnight. Martin Keown may also miss that match, though Fredrik Ljungberg is almost back to full fitness and Swiss defender Philippe Senderos will soon follow suit.
