Latin lift for Lokomotiv

FC Lokomotiv Moskva have signed striker Alfredo David Moreno to aid Winston Parks up front.

Disappointing start
The defending Russian champions have brought the 23-year-old Argentinian for a fee estimated at €1.2m as they aim to kick-start their season after a disappointing start which has left them ninth in the table with 15 points from 12 games. The club will enter the UEFA Champions League in the third qualifying round.

Striking problems
Lokomotiv will be hoping that the new striker can resolve some of their problems in front of goal. Nigerian international striker James Obiorah has been dismissed by the club, while the likes of Ruslan Pimenov, Maxim Buznikin and Julio Cesar have all been struggling to find their best form alongside Winston Parks in the Moscow club's attacking line.

Well travelled
Despite his tender years, Moreno is already well travelled, having also played for Argentinian side Racing de Avellaneda, Mexico's Impulsora del Deportivo Necaxa and Chinese side Shandong. He has also seen major success in South America, having won the Libertadores Cup - the continent's equivalent of the Champions League - with Boca Juniors in 2000.

Goalscoring feats
The 2000 season saw Moreno emerge as a rising star at Boca Juniors, announcing his arrival with five goals in a 6-1 win against Bolivian side C. Blooming Santa Cruz in a Libertadores Cup game. He scored a further four goals in the same competition this season. Moreno will become the third Agentinian in Russia, joining FC Krylya Sovetov Samara defender Gustavo Lilho and FC Saturn Moskovskaya Oblast striker Nicolas Pavlovic.
