AS Roma will wait until Tuesday before deciding whether Francesco Totti is fit enough to face AEK Athens FC in the sides' decisive UEFA Champions League Group C match at the Stadio Olimpico.
Missed training
Italian international Totti, on whom Roma depend on so much for their attacking flair, twisted his right knee in Saturday's 1-1 Serie A draw at Piacenza FC and missed training for the second successive day on Monday.
Anxious wait
But coach Fabio Capello said his captain's condition had improved and it was worth waiting another day to see if he would be able to play in the game from which Roma need at least a point to secure passage to the second group stage of the Champions League.
Leading scorer
"Totti didn't train today," said Capello. "Yesterday we had little hope but he has improved a lot and so we have decided to keep him with us in the training camp and tomorrow, depending on how he feels, we will decide whether he plays or not." Totti is the joint-leading scorer of Serie A with eight goals this season and his winning goal away to Real Madrid CF a fortnight ago was only Roma's second in Europe this term.
Greek side must win
Roma are already missing injured striker Gabriel Batistuta and wing-back Vincent Candela. Capello's side are second in Group C, three points ahead of AEK who must win to overtake the Italians.
