Boniek hands Bak captaincy

Defender Jacek Bak will captain Poland against Belgium on Wednesday.

Defender Jacek Bak will captain Poland against Belgium, coach Zbigniew Boniek announced today.

Simple reasoning
The 29-year-old RC Lens defender has played 37 times for his country and said: "It's an honour to wear the captain's armband but the most important thing is that the Polish national team is successful. We must help each other, our target is clear – we must be winning."

Venues announced
The Polish Football Federation (PZPN) also announced today that the country's EURO 2004™ match against Latvia would be played on 12 October in Warsaw at the Wojska Polskiego stadium, home of champions Legia Warszawa. Meanwhile, the 16 October friendly against New Zealand will take place in the Ostrowiec Swietokrzyski at the MOSIR stadium, home of KSZO Ostrowiec.
