Olsen's optimism grows

After receiving good news about his injured players, Denmark coach Morten Olsen said his side could be "peaking at just the right time".

Peaking at right time
Olsen feels his side are peaking at the right time here in Portugal and, looking ahead to Sunday's quarter-final against the Czech Republic, he said: "You must never be satisfied. Now we have to set ourselves new goals, and I believe we can beat the Czech Republic even though I consider them one of the favourites to win the tournament now.

Bandaged leg
"We seem to be reaching the peak of our shape at just the right time." The coach may be without left-back Niclas Jensen for the game in Porto, after he suffered a deep cut at the bottom of his left leg against Sweden last night. Jensen received 25 stitches and appeared at the training ground today with his leg bandaged.

Upbeat Olsen
Olsen said yesterday that he did not think the player would appear again in the tournament but Jensen struck a different note today. He said: "Obviously the quarter-final against the Czech Republic on Sunday is out of the question, but I choose to be optimistic and hope to be playing in a possible semi-final - or maybe in the final."

Jørgensen should play
Of the other players who collected knocks against Sweden, Olsen said: "Martin Jørgensen is suffering from a small thigh injury, but I am confident that he will be fit for the quarter-final, and the same goes for Daniel Jensen, Dennis Rommedahl and Ebbe Sand, who are also suffering from slight injuries, mostly the result of the fact that a tournament like this tires the players."
