Colombia 3-1 Switzerland
UEFA EURO 2008™ co-hosts Switzerland failed to sparkle in the second and final game of their United States tour, losing 3-1 to Colombia at the Orange Bowl in Miami.
Reshuffled side
Having ended a run of three defeats with a 2-0 win against Jamaica on Friday, coach Jakob Kuhn reshuffled his side for Sunday night's match, with Ricardo Cabanas and Hakan Yakin replacing Blerim Dzemaili and Xavier Margairaz in midfield and Colombian-born Johan Vonlanthen starting up front in place of Marco Streller.
Early goal
The new-look team had barely settled to their task before they went behind after five minutes, with Javier Arizala crossing for Edixon Perea to beat Pascal Zuberbühler from close range. Switzerland fought back, but goalkeeper Miguel Calero saved an Alexander Frei free-kick and a Vahon Behrami shot. Frei eventually restored parity on 36 minutes, converting a retaken penalty following a foul on Yakin, though Colombia were not to be denied. Jhon Viáfara restored their lead eleven minutes into the second half, and Andrés Chitiva added a late third as the Swiss failed to break down disciplined opponents.
