The 2023/24 Europa Conference League second qualifying round draw took place on Wednesday 21 June at the House of European Football in Nyon, Switzerland.

The two-legged ties will take place on 27 July and 3 August.

Conditions of the draw

In accordance with paragraphs 13.05 and 13.06 of the Regulations of the UEFA Europa Conference League 2023/24, the UEFA administration formed groups and seeded clubs for the second qualifying round draw (champions path) based on the stage at which the clubs were eliminated from the UEFA Champions League (champions path).

In accordance with the principles set out by the Club Competitions Committee, the 16 teams (3 from the preliminary round of the UEFA Champions League, indicated for the purposes of this draw as Semi-finalist 1, Semi-finalist 2 and Finalist, and 13 from the first qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League, indicated for the purposes of this draw as Match 1 to 13) were divided into two groups of six teams (groups 1 and 2) and one group of four teams (group 3).

The 13 clubs eliminated in the first qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League (champions path) were seeded for the purposes of this draw. The other 3 were unseeded and divided equally between the three groups.

Any changes of date and fixture reversals will be communicated in writing to your club and national association tomorrow, 22 June, by 18:00 CET.

Draw procedure

Groups 1 to 2

Three bowls were prepared for the draw, with the balls containing the names of the five seeded and one unseeded teams from Group 1 placed in the corresponding marked bowls.

One ball was then taken from each of these bowls and placed in the third empty central bowl, where they were shuffled. The first team drawn from this bowl was then considered the home team for the first tie and would play against the second team drawn.

As there were then no more unseeded teams to be drawn, the four remaining group 1 balls were then drawn one after another to complete the pairings for the group (open draw). The first team drawn into each pairing was set to play the first match at home, against the second team drawn.

The above procedure was then repeated to determine the pairings for the Group 2.

Group 3

The procedure for this group was exactly the same as above, with the only difference being there were only three seeded teams and one unseeded team.

Conditions of the draw

In accordance with paragraphs 13.03 and 13.04 of the Regulations of the UEFA Europa Conference League 2023/24, the UEFA administration formed groups and seeded clubs for the second qualifying round draw (main path) based on the club rankings established at the beginning of the season and the principles set by the Club Competitions Committee.

The 90 teams (59 that enter the competition at this stage and the 31 winners of the first qualifying round ties) were divided into nine groups of 10 teams.

Within each of the nine groups, the teams were divided into an equal number of seeded and unseeded teams (45 seeded teams and 45 unseeded teams in total).

Teams from the same association could not be drawn against each other.

If any club in a first qualifying round match had a coefficient that would entitle it to be seeded for the second qualifying round draw, the winner of that match was automatically seeded for the draw.

Any changes of date and fixture reversals will be communicated in writing to your club and national association tomorrow, 22 June, by 18:00 CET.

Draw procedure

All the clubs in each of the nine groups were randomly assigned a number: 1 to 5 for the seeded teams and 6 to 10 for the unseeded teams.

Three bowls were prepared for the draw, with the balls containing the numbers for the seeded and unseeded teams for Groups 1-5 placed in the correspondingly marked bowls.

One ball was taken from each of those bowls and placed in the third empty central bowl, where they were shuffled. The number shown from first ball drawn from this bowl indicated the home teams of the first pairing of all nine groups, and they were set to play against the teams indicated by the number of the ball drawn second from this bowl.

For example, if the first ball drawn contained the number 2 and the second the number 8, the clubs that have been assigned the numbers 2 and 8 in each of the nine groups would play each other. The first ball drawn, here containing the number 2, designated the home team for the first leg in all nine ties.

The same procedure was carried out with the remaining balls to complete the pairings.
