Success
Now aged 33, the midfielder first appeared for the Amsterdam side on 8 September 1991 against RKC Waalwijk and went on to win three Eredivisie crowns, the Dutch Cup, the UEFA Cup and, most memorably, the UEFA Champions League in 1995. That 1-0 victory in Vienna came against AC Milan, the club he would join the following summer.
UEFA Cup
Davids spent just a season at San Siro before embarking on a long stay with Juventus, representing the Turin team 159 times in Serie A. Short stints with FC Barcelona and FC Internazionale Milano preceded a move to Tottenham in summer 2005 and he played 40 games in the Premiership and also featured in the UEFA Cup. Consequently he cannot be registered by Ajax ahead of the resumption of their European campaign against Werder Bremen next month.
