AZ complete double capture

AZ Alkmaar have strengthened their squad for the UEFA Cup with loan moves for goalkeeper Boy Waterman and striker Nourdin Boukhari.

AZ Alkmaar have reinforced their squad ahead of the resumption of the UEFA Cup campaign next month with the loan signings of goalkeeper Boy Waterman and striker Nourdin Boukhari.

Waterman promise
The 23-year-old Waterman, a former Dutch youth international, joins on a six-month loan from SC Heerenveen, for whom he has made just 17 league appearances since making his first-team debut in 2003/04. With Joey Didulica facing surgery on an ankle injury in early February, Waterman will compete with Moroccan international Khalid Sinouh for the No1 shirt at AZ, who face Fenerbahçe SK in the UEFA Cup Round of 32. "In Boy we have signed one of the most talented goalkeepers of his age," said the Dutch club's director of football Marcel Brands.

Boukhari return
Boukhari, 26, returns to the Netherlands after a short spell in France with FC Nantes Atlantique, where he moved last summer after four seasons with AFC Ajax but made only four Ligue 1 starts in his six months with the club. The Moroccan international forward passed his medical with AZ on Sunday and has joined until the end of the season with an option for a permanent transfer should he impress in his time at the Alkmaarderhout. Both players are eligible to be registered for the UEFA Cup.
