'Right decision'
The 29-year-old, who made just 28 appearances in his two-and-a-half year spell at the club relegated from the German Bundesliga last term, has agreed a two-year deal with the Belgian Cup holders. "I have been on the sidelines for five months now so I have a huge appetite to prove myself," said Sonck. "When Brugge came in for me, I soon made my decision. This is a team who play for top prizes and I am convinced that I have made the right decision."
Genk success
Sonck, who has won 37 caps for Belgium, began his career with RWD Molenbeek in 1997 before taking in spells at Germinal Ekeren, KFC Germinal Beerschot Antwerpen and KRC Genk. After being voted Belgian Player of the Year in 2002 with 30 league goals for Genk the striker left his homeland in 2002/03 for AFC Ajax, where he remained until securing a move to Mönchengladbach in January 2005.
