Paços de Ferreira opt for Valdir

FC Paços de Ferreira have signed left-back Hugo Valdir from A. Naval 1º Maio for an undisclosed fee as they moved quickly to replace the AS Roma-bound Antunes.

The 23-year-old has penned a two-season contract with the Portuguese Liga side after a frustrating, injury-hit year at Naval 1º Maio which brought just one appearance. A product of the Sporting Clube de Portugal academy, Valdir represented Portugal at youth level and had also spells in second division AD Ovarense and CF Estrela da Amadora. Paços de Ferreira are in Friday's UEFA Cup first round draw.
