Madrid move
The English club confirmed that they had signed the 36-year-old late this morning, adding another keeper to their ranks having also recruited Brazilian Heurelho Gomes from PSV Eindhoven as a replacement for Paul Robinson, who was sold to Blackburn Rovers FC. Capped once by Spain, César enjoyed three excellent seasons at La Romareda, missing just four top-flight matches following his move from Real Madrid CF in 2005. He joined Madrid in 2000 after a lengthy spell at Real Valladolid and kept goal in the 2002 UEFA Champions League final victory against Bayer 04 Leverkusen, although injury prevented César from winning the battle for the No1 jersey with Iker Casillas. Tottenham will enter the UEFA Cup in the first round.
