Sevilla FC's injury woes continue with the news that attacking midfielder Lautaro Acosta will be out for three weeks because of sprained ankle ligaments sustained during the 2-0 UEFA Cup group-stage defeat of VfB Stuttgart.
Early exit
Manolo Jiménez's summer signing from Argentinian outfit CA Lanús was replaced by Tom De Mul 21 minutes into the match at the Ramón Sánchez-Pizjuán, and is rated doubtful for Sevilla's next Group C game in Belgium against R. Standard de Liège on 6 November.
Lost opportunity
"It's a real pity," said Acosta. "It was a great tie to be involved in – we were winning 2-0 and it was an opportunity to show what I could do – but then I got injured." The 20-year-old Argentinian has made two Spanish Liga appearances but had been poised to increase that tally following injuries to forwards Luis Fabiano (thigh), Frédéric Kanouté (calf) and Ernesto Chevantón (knee). Sevilla, second in the Liga, are also missing Diego Capel and Ivica Dragutinović due to thigh problems.
