FC Metalist Kharkiv have signed Ukrainian Under-21 international midfielder Denys Oliynyk on a four-year contract from FC Dynamo Kyiv.
Second signing
The highly rated 21-year-old spent the first half of this season on loan at FC Arsenal Kyiv where he scored five goals in 16 top-flight matches. Oliynyk is Metalist's second major signing of the winter break following the return of defender Andriy Berezovchuk, 27, from Premier League rivals FC Metalurh Donetsk. "The arrivals of Berezovchuk and Oliynyk are just the start of our winter transfer campaign," club president Aleksandr Yaroslavski said. "We have quite big ambitions this spring in the second half of the Ukrainian league and the UEFA Cup. These players aren't our last signings. There will be big names [coming], maybe even sensational ones."
Great form
Metalist are already assured of their place in the UEFA Cup Round of 32 ahead of their final Group B game against SL Benfica next Thursday after defeating both Galatasaray AŞ and Olympiacos CFP and drawing with Hertha BSC Berlin. Metalist are second in the Ukrainian Premier League at the winter break, six points behind leaders FC Dynamo Kyiv.
