FC Metalist Kharkiv have brought Andriy Berezovchuk back to the club on a three-year contract from Ukrainian Premier League rivals FC Metalurh Donetsk.
Second spell
The 27-year-old is returning for a second spell at Metalist, where he made 73 league appearances between 2002 and 2004 before joining local rivals FC Kharkiv. Berezovchuk, who can play in both defence or as a defensive midfielder, will be eligible to take his place in Metalist's UEFA Cup squad after he is officially registered with the club in January.
European progress
"With [coach] Myron Markevich's arrival, Metalist have become one of the major forces in Ukrainian football," said Berezovchuk, who is looking forward to his debut in UEFA club competition. "The challenges facing this team are very serious, and that is why I am flattered to join them." Metalist, who are already assured at least second place in UEFA Cup Group B ahead of next week's visit to SL Benfica, are also performing impressively in the Ukrainian Premier League where they lie second to leaders FC Dynamo Kyiv.
