There is concern that Werder Bremen may be without forwards Claudio Pizarro and Markus Rosenberg for Wednesday's UEFA Cup final against FC Shakhtar Donetsk after both players were withdrawn from Thomas Schaaf's squad for Saturday's Bundesliga home game against Karlsruher SC.
Injury list
Peruvian striker Pizarro, 30, has scored seven goals for Bremen in Europe this season, while Swedish international Rosenberg, 26, was expected to deputise for the suspended Hugo Almeida in the UEFA Cup final in Istanbul. However, the pair have temporarily joined Daniel Jensen (achilles), Per Mertesacker (ankle) and Naldo (groin) on the club's injury list, with Schaaf saying: "Claudio Pizarro took a blow to the foot during the game against Eintracht Frankfurt which is causing him problems and Markus Rosenberg got a knock on the ankle which is preventing him from being able to run properly with the result that neither of them will be able to play against Karlsruhe."
