Lyon, Dnipro and Atlético leave it late

Videoton FC and Molde FK produced shocks but only three teams – Olympique Lyonnais, FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk and Club Atlético de Madrid – kept perfect records on matchday two.

Olympique Lyonnais, FC Dnipro Dnipropetrovsk and Club Atlético de Madrid are the only three teams with a 100% record after the second set of UEFA Europa League group games were played on Thursday evening.

All three sides left it late to move onto six points: holders Atlético struck in added time to defeat a spirited FC Viktoria Plzeň, while Lyon were 4-3 winners against Hapoel Kiryat Shmona FC in a see-saw battle decided by Gueïda Fofana's last-minute goal. Dnipro came from behind to overcome AIK Solna 3-2 and go clear in Group F.

PSV Eindhoven bounced back from an opening-day reverse against Dnipro by comprehensively beating SSC Napoli 3-0. The Italian club had been big winners on matchday one, and another team to experience a dramatic reversal in fortunes were FC Girondins de Bordeaux, felled by the same scoreline at Newcastle United FC.

For the second matchday in succession, Liverpool FC were involved in another free-scoring encounter though this time they came out on the wrong side, losing by the odd goal in five against Udinese Calcio. FC Anzhi Makhachkala lead Group A after seeing off BSC Young Boys in one of the evening's early games.

In Group G, a Paulo Sousa-coached Videoton FC side shocked Sporting Clube de Portugal 3-0 with all the goals coming in the first 35 minutes. KRC Genk are perhaps surprise leaders in that section after drawing 2-2 at FC Basel 1893. Sporting, who last season qualified after just three group matches, lie bottom on one point. Molde FK also created a stir by downing VfB Stuttgart.

Olympique de Marseille were the night's biggest winners after they ran out 5-1 victors against AEL Limassol FC while Fenerbahçe SK registered a 4-2 success at VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach in the same pool. FC Internazionale Milano and FC Rubin Kazan head Group H after both eased to comfortable victories.
