Article body
Action 21 Charleroi were 7-5 winners over CSÖ-Montage Budapest FC in a thrilling twelve-goal encounter in the UEFA Futsal Cup in Lisbon.
Lúcio double
It was a match for attackers with the forward play from both sides dominating at the expense of defensive skill. Star of the show for Belgian club Charleroi was Lúcio Rosa. The 26-year-old Brazilian scored twice and was a constant menace to the Hungarian side, who had less of the play but took what chances they were able to create.
Level at the break
Indeed, victory was never certain against an enthusiastic Budapest team. Just before the break, Charleroi had a two-goal lead only to allow their opponents to level the score in the last two minutes of the half to make it 2-2 at the interval.
Late drama
Budapest then scored twice before Charleroi battled back and Lúcio and Pedro Medina drew the Belgian club level. Lúcio then scored his second to put the Belgian team in front and when Mohamed Boukamir scored a sixth it all seemed over. However Janos Madarász, with his second of the match, pulled Budapest back into the game to leave the score at 6-5 with two minutes remaining. The next goal was crucial and it was Charleroi who secured the victory, Medina adding his second of the game.
'Nothing to lose'
Medina, one of Charleroi’s two-goal heroes, was pleased with the way the team came back. "We had nothing to lose at 4-2," he said. "It was not a very good situation but we believed in ourselves and I think we deserved to win at the end." Madarász, who also scored twice, was disappointed with how things went. "I scored two goals but we still lost the match," he said.
