Castellón cruise to victory

Playas de Castellón F.S. recorded a devastating 9-0 win over Clearex-Chorzów on Monday.

Playas de Castellón F.S. issued a warning to the seven other UEFA Futsal Cup hopefuls with a devastating 9-0 victory over Clearex-Chorzów.

Cruise control
The Spanish team were the favourites before the competition began at the Pavilhão Atlântico in Lisbon on Monday and left the rest of the competition in no doubt over their ability after their opening Group B fixture. Chorzów held their opponents at bay for nine minutes but Brazilian international Vander Carioca then scored twice in two minutes and Castellón were in cruise control. Vander finished up with a hat-trick while team-mate Joan went one better with four.

'A good victory'
Joan was delighted with the win, but not just from a personal point of view. "All of us played a great game. We had respect for the opposition and it was a good victory with a lot of goals." He added that he was pleased to be playing in the first UEFA Futsal Cup. "The organisation is very good and we are happy about the result."

Sublime move
Vander’s second was a sublime move and epitomised everything about his team’s play. Castellón captain Lorente burst down the left and crossed the ball for Vander to finish with style on the volley. Joan then added two more before Jávi Sanchez made it five just before the break with a delicate chip after strolling past the Polish team's defence.

Rasping drive
To their credit, Chorzów refused to give up but they had no answer to Vander. He completed his hat-trick just after half-time and that was quickly followed by a goal from Alemao, who hit a rasping drive after an excellent passing move. Tomasz Szeja came closest to a consolation for the Polish side but lifted his shot over after a strong burst through the middle midway through the second half. There was still time for Juan to add his third and fourth goals for a comprehensive victory.
