Chico salvages Charleroi pride

Action 21 Charleroi 3-2 KMF Marbo Beograd The outgoing champions ended their disappointing campaign on a high as Chico scored twice against the hosts.

Outgoing UEFA Futsal Cup champions Action 21 Charleroi ended their disappointing campaign on a high as Chico scored twice to inspire them to a 3-2 victory against Group B hosts KMF Marbo Beograd.

Šoša strikes
MFK Dinamo Moskva's win against FC Shakhtar Donetsk in the early game meant the Beograd knew that they could not reach the semi-finals, while two defeats had left the holders eliminated on Monday. Chico broke the deadlock in the fourth minute after being teed up by Robinho, but the lead proved short-lived and Igor Šoša soon equalised after a superb through-ball from Predrag Rajić. The forward added another from the penalty spot on ten minutes to hand the home team the initiativem but by half-time the score was locked at 2-2 after Julio fired into the corner of the net following a quickly-taken free-kick.

Charleroi consolation
Beograd battled back after the restart, as Rajić, Šoša and Bojan Pavicević all went close but with the Serbo-Montenegrin outfit pressing, Chico settled the match at the other end with a clinical finish. The result leaves Beograd at the foot of Group B, but Charleroi will take little consolation from finishing three points behind second-placed Shakhtar as their title defence was ended.
