Sirilo spot-kick provides Dinamo fillip

FC Shakhtar Donetsk 0-1 MFK Dinamo Moskva Brazilian forward Sirilo struck a late penalty to ensure Dinamo progress as Group B winners.

Brazilian forward Sirilo struck a late penalty as MFK Dinamo Moskva ensured they progressed to the last four of the UEFA Futsal cup as second qualifying round Group B winners with a hard-fought victory against FC Shakhtar Donetsk.

Joan failure
Sirilo assumed the penalty-taking from duties from compatriot Joan with just six minutes to go, after the regular spot-kick taker had failed with an earlier effort. But Sirilo made no such mistake as he swept the ball in after Alexandre Rakhimov had been felled, to leave Shakhtar with the consolation of having already booked their semi-final berth. However, they must meet Group A winners Boomerang Interviú over two legs in March, while Dinamo play Kairat Almaty.

Dinamo edge
The game started prosaically, with neither side willing to commit players forward. Pelé and Igor Moskvychov had half chances at either end but the encounter sparked to life when the Russian side were awarded a penalty. Joan's weak shot was comfortably saved by Vladyslav Kornyeyev, however, and the Ukrainian goalkeeper had to be alert again on ten minutes to keep out another Joan effort.

Late dismissal
The second half saw much of the same, with Shakhtar happy to sit on their perch at the top of the section and Dinamo eager to hold on to the point that would ensure their progress. In the end they earned all three though as Sirilo's clinical penalty ensured the Russian side finished top of Group B, two points ahead of Shakhtar, whose hopes of a late equaliser disappeared when they were reduced to five men with two minutes left.
