For all his strengths as a player, he is as much regarded for the way he motivates his colleagues and always sets the right example. Yet Maevskiy is keen to acknowledge the strength of the squad as a whole rather than take individual acclaim, saying: "In our team every one is a complete individual and can lead the others. This is what usually happens - when someone's having a low time and another is doing better, one plays for the other.
