FC Barcelona may be UEFA Futsal Cup debutants but the team that lines up for the hosts against Sporting Clube de Portugal in Lleida tonight certainly do not lack experience, not least Torras.
Top scorer in Spain's UEFA Futsal EURO 2012 triumph a couple of months ago in Croatia – his fourth continental title – he has also won the FIFA Futsal World Cup and the 2009 UEFA Futsal Cup with Interviú Madrid, before losing the following season's final to SL Benfica. He then returned to his first club seven years after leaving and spoke to UEFA.com about why winning this trophy would mean so much to Barcelona.
UEFA.com: What do you expect from these finals?
Torras: We want to win, that is the goal that we came for, especially playing at home in front of your fans and your family. Our only intention is to win this title.
UEFA.com: People say you are favourites because you are hosts. What do you think of that?
Torras: We are favourites as hosts, not for anything else. We would say that it is our first finals, the other three teams have much more experience and some have already won this title. Our goal is to claim this cup and the title of 'favourites' has to be earned on the pitch. Of course, we will have extra help from the fans.
UEFA.com: This is Barcelona's first season in Europe. Do you think the lack of experience may be decisive?
Torras: As a club we lack experience but in terms of the squad, all of us here have so much experience, and we have played very important matches, at the [FIFA Futsal] World Cup for instance. Of course, at club level this is new and we have the pressure of wanting to win, moreover if we consider that we are at home.
UEFA.com: You personally have won this cup in 2009 with Interviú, what can you bring to the team?
Torras: No, I don't have to say anything [laughs]. With all our experience, there is little to say. It is not the same to win the UEFA Cup with this club instead of another club. Clinching the title here is very important, firstly because of what Barcelona represent and secondly because our 'section' is the only section at the club that is missing a European trophy. I believe if you consider these two things, this cup is so special.
UEFA.com: And your opponents Sporting?
Torras: They are very tough. Knowing the Portuguese and Brazilians, I know they know a lot about futsal. Sporting can play the ball, have a tough defence and all his players are dangerous one-on-one. It is a one-off semi-final and everything is at stake, it will be a very hard game.
