FC Porto's Brazilian playmaker Diego is out of Friday's UEFA Super Cup against Valencia CF after suffering a thigh injury.
The 19-year-old, who arrived from Santos FC in the summer, went down 20 minutes into Sunday's Portuguese Super Cup victory against SL Benfica following a challenge by former Santos team-mate Paulo Almeida. Having already suffered a muscle-related injury in pre-season against Boavista FC, Diego is out for three weeks and will not play in Monaco for the European champions against the UEFA Cup holders.
Diego will also miss Porto's opening Portuguese SuperLiga game at Braga on 12 September, and is out of Brazil's FIFA World Cup qualifier against Bolivia the previous week. His compatriot Derlei has already been ruled out of Friday's fixture with knee ligament damage.
