The inaugural UEFA Youth League will use the composition and similar calendar of the UEFA Champions League group stage draw with the competition finishing in a four-team final tournament.
The group stage will be formed using the same draw that will decide the UEFA Champions League group stage, which takes place in Monaco on 29 August. Just like the senior competition, teams will play each other home and away with the top two from each section progressing to the round of 16.
Each round of 16 and quarter-final tie will be a one-off match.
The semi-finals and final will be contested as a four-team tournament at a neutral venue.
Further details, including the criteria for separating teams that finish level on points in a group, or after extra time in a match, can be found in the official competition regulations.
