Group A
Malmö 1-0 Real Madrid
Isak Redzic struck two minutes from time as the Swedish side's impressive start to Group A continued. Having drawn in Paris last time out, they looked set for another point after an excellent display from goalkeeper Marko Johansson. Things got even better when Redzic, 17, won a free-kick on the edge of the box, then was in the right place to drive in from 20 metres after it was half-cleared.
Shakhtar Donetsk 1-4 Paris Saint-Germain
Odsonne Edouard teed up Jean-Kévin Augustin for the visitors' seventh-minute opener, and though Oleksandr Zubkov hit the bar at the other end it was 2-0 by the break, Mamadou Doucoure heading in from a corner. Roli Pereira De Sa's penalty made it three before Zubkov's finish gave Shakhtar hope. Augustin restored the three-goal cushion following good work from Doucoure, but was denied a treble as Mykyta Romanov saved his stoppage-time spot kick.
Group B
CSKA Moskva 0-0 PSV
CSKA skipper Nikita Chernov rattled the frame of the goal midway through the second half as it finished all-square in Moscow. PSV managed only a solitary shot on target as they drew another blank.
Manchester United 1-1 Wolfsburg
Wolfsburg got off the mark as they held Nicky Butt's team in Leigh thanks to Anton-Leander Donkor's 61st-minute equaliser. Marcus Rashford earned and converted a 22nd-minute penalty to put the hosts ahead but the Wolves were well in charge after the interval and Donker went twice close before running onto a throw-in and lobbing over Dean Henderson in the home goal.
Group C
Astana 0-3 Galatasaray
The visitors secured a comfortable victory, never looking back after Kerem Çaliskan nodded them into an early lead. Muhammet Yesilyurt doubled the advantage with a close-range finish on 77 minutes, with Doğan Can Davas getting his name on the scoresheet three minutes later after a number of near-misses.
Atlético Madrid 1-2 Benfica
Benfica's first-half supremacy was rewarded as Diogo Gonçalves supplied João Carvalho for the Eagles' first ten minutes before half-time. Atlético raised their game, Juan Moreno heading them level in the second period, but they had no response as man-of-the-match Gonçalves fired in a terrific winner on 89 minutes.
Group D
Juventus 0-1 Sevilla
Mattia Del Favero kept out Rubén Colmenero in the opening seconds but Sevilla took the lead anyway, Francisco Sánchez delivering the ball for Marian Shved to finish on 24 minutes – just as Juve seemed to be finding their feet. Andrea Favilli nodded over Juve's best chance to equalise soon afterwards, but it might have been worse – Del Favero saved a Sánchez spot kick late on.
Mönchengladbach 1-2 Manchester City
Ba-Muaka Simakala caught City goalkeeper Angus Gunn out of position within seconds of kick-off but, despite unrelenting pressure, it took until 62 minutes for the away side to reply, Aaron Nemane squaring for William Patching to finish from close range. Nemane then netted the three points, beating two men before finishing low into the corner.
