• The eight second-round winners will be drawn at home to the eight Champions League path runners-up in the play-off round, which like all subsquent stages is played as a one-off tie.
• The eight play-off winners will join the eight Champions League path group winners in the knockout phase, starting in the round of 16 and leading to the four-team final tournament in April at Nyon's Stade de Colovray opposite UEFA headquarters.
