Welsh renaissance
Wales, who are undergoing something of a footballing renaissance at the moment, began the campaign with a thrilling 3-2 win against Norway and then secured their place in the next round with a 1-0 win against hosts Luxembourg - Russell Lucas scoring the only goal of the game after just 13 minutes.

Three out of three for Wales
To complete a highly-satisfactory few days, Wales won their final game 2-1 against Bosnia-Herzegovina to ensure they won the group and will take their place in second qualifying round Group 1, alongside Spain and whichever countries finish second in Group 1 and Group 8.

Norway wrap up second
Norway wrapped up second place to move into Group 2 of the second qualifying round where they will face Russia, Croatia and the winners of Group 9.
