Denmark eye last four

Denmark 2-0 Hungary Denmark revived their semi-final hopes and eliminated Hungary in the process.

Denmark beat Hungary 2-0 in Mangualde this evening to move into second place in Group A behind Portugal - and in the process revive their hopes of reaching the semi-finals of the UEFA European Under-17 Championship.

Draw will be enough
A draw in the Danes' final game against Austria on Sunday in Nelas will now be enough to secure a last-four berth. However Hungary, who face host nation Portugal the same day, will only have pride to play for after today's defeat put an end to their semi-final dreams.

Danish verve
Denmark were the dominant force in this evening's game, creating several chances and playing with the same verve and creativity they demonstrated in their 3-2 reverse against Portugal on the opening day of the tournament.

Well-worked goal
It took the Danes 33 minutes to move ahead with a well-worked goal, Bo Storm striking the ball low and hard past Szabolcs Kemenes from close range after a series of swift midfield passes.

Advantage extended
Michael Jakobsen extended his side's advantage ten minutes after the interval with a well-placed header after a deep cross from the Danish left.

Superior goal difference
With a superior goal difference to Austria, who lost 1-0 to Portugal today, Denmark now know that a draw or win in Sunday's game between the two teams will be enough to secure second place in the group, and a likely semi-final meeting with Spain.

Hungary to take bow
As for Hungary, who will bow out with a game against the hosts on Sunday, the learning process continues, with their youngsters sure to have benefited from the experiences the tournament has offered.
