UEFA European Under-17 Championship hosts Luxembourg, without key man Miralem Pjanic, saw their recent unbeaten record disappear in a friendly defeat by Slovenia.
Pjanic absent
Pjanic, who scored four goals in last week’s 5-5 draw with fellow finalists Belgium was on duty with club FC Metz. And Slovenia stormed ahead in the first half, David Sviben, Roman Morsi and Roman Bezjak making it 3-0 at the break for a team who were eliminated in the 2005/06 U17 qualifying round by the Netherlands, Denmark and Belarus. Luka Majcen made it 4-0 near the end.
Dutch test
Ronny Bonvini's Luxembourg have another warm-up next week against the Dutch, and begin their finals campaign against Group A rivals Spain in Hesperange on 3 May, before further fixtures against Hungary and Russia.
