FRANCE 3-0 NORTHERN IRELAND
Philippe Bergeroo, France
"We missed a number of chances at the start of the match, which could have turned to Northern Ireland's advantage, but in the end we deserved to win. As the players are young, we did not play efficiently enough, which is a characteristic of U17 football. Collectively, we played very well, but we were not coherent enough. However, the players from the bench brought some fresh energy and new ideas to the team, and inspired us to victory."
Kenny Shiels, Northern Ireland
"I am really disappointed for the guys, because they put so much effort and energy into the match. France have some very good players in their team, and the second goal was tremendous. We hit the post and at that point I thought we could take something from the match."
SPAIN 1-0 TURKEY
Juan Santisteban, Spain
"It may have been a good game technically, but tactically my team didn't play as I wanted. I expected far more and a better performance. Turkey have a good team, and some good players of high technical ability. It was a good quality match and there were more goalscoring opportunities than the final score suggests. Everybody is criticising the Turkish goalkeeper, but Marcos had a very good shot and to me it was not a mistake at all. It was a good goal."
Ferhat Südogan, Turkey assistant coach
"We played disappointingly today, but this is something that happens with young players and you can't explain why. Sometimes they're good and sometimes they're bad. The boys can play much better than today and we can still get six points and qualify for the semi-finals. We have to congratulate the Spanish team, even though they were not extraordinary and perhaps a little lucky. 0-0 would perhaps have been fairer and I thought we deserved a draw, but one mistake from our goalkeeper made the difference."
