Suvorov spearheads fightback

Romania 2-2 Moldova Two goals from Alexandru Suvorov secure a point against the Group 6 hosts.

Alexandru Suvorov scored twice as Moldova recovered from two goals down to draw 2-2 with hosts Romania in UEFA European Under-17 Championship qualifying Group 6.

Two-goal start
The home side were quickly into their stride at the Mogosoaia stadium in Bucharest, and led 2-0 after just 14 minutes. Striker Catalin Dedu gave the home fans something to cheer as he put Romania in front in the fifth minute, and the lead was doubled nine minutes later with midfield player Rares Florin Stan finding the net.

Suvorov strikes
However, Suvorov pulled a goal back six minutes before half-time, and it was 2-2 a minute past the hour as the striker struck again to earn his side a draw. "It was a typical match for this age category," said Romania coach Gheorghe Cristoloveanu. "It was a bad game for our team with many technical mistakes. It was a fair result."

Moldovan delight
Moldovan counterpart Vladimir Gosperschi was content. "We played against a team which we know already from four friendlies," he said. "I am happy with the result. Just playing in the second round is an achievement for us."
