Flessers opens scoring
The home team dominated throughout, with Jeffrey Tumanan and Chinedu Ede using their pace to great effect on the wings. On 29 minutes Marc Kruska's free-kick found Robert Flessers, who drove the ball into the net. Flessers then headed the second five minutes into the second half.
Slovakian consolation
Slovakia received a further blow on the hour when Lukás Horváth was taken off on a stretcher with a suspected torn ankle muscle. However, their spirit gained some reward when Juraj Piroska pulled a goal one minute from the end.
'Every game is different'
German coach Paul Schomann said he was happy with the victory, but felt that more chances could have been taken - adding that both goals were from moves worked on in training. Their next match on Saturday is against Ukraine - who beat Slovakia's next opponents Denmark 2-0 today - and Schomann added: "Every game is different and you cannot predict the outcome, especially at this age it is difficult to tell if the players will be able to play at the same level as the previous match."
