Article body
Croatia and Ukraine both remained in contention for a place in the finals of the UEFA European Under-17 Championship as they played out a 1-1 draw in Imotski.
Opening wins
Both sides won their opening Group 3 fixtures on Tuesday, Ukraine overwhelming 2003 winners Portugal 3-0 while mini-tournament hosts Croatia defeated Hungary 2-1. Both therefore began the match full of confidence, but it was the Ukrainians who struck first, albeit in fortuitous fashion as Croatia's Dejan Lovren put through his own goal in the 36th minute.
Instant response
The lead last only a minute, however, Stipe Bacelic Grgic striking to bring his team level. Neither side was able to find a winner, however, meaning the Croatians have to better Ukraine's result on Saturday in the final round of matches to progress. The hosts play Portugal, while Hungary are the opposition for Croatia.
