Russia rocked by Belarus

Russia 0-2 Belarus Two goals in two minutes ensure Belarus get off to a winning start against Russia.

Goals from Anton Bubnou and Siarhei Kisly inside a two-minute spell ensured Belarus got off to a winning start against Russia in their opening UEFA European Under-17 Championship Elite round Group 4 fixture.

Bubnov header
Russia started brightly but failed to break down a tight Belarussian defence before falling behind in the 27th minute. Bubnov was given too much space at a corner and rose to head in the opener.

Goalkeeping error
Seconds later, Russia goalkeeper Alexandre Saoutine's blunder allowed Belarus captain Kisly to score the second goal and wrap up the 2-0 win. Despite pressing hard, the Russians could find no way back and will hope to fare better against Finland on Tuesday.

Preparation key
Belarus coach Piotr Mikhiev, whose side take on Bulgaria on Tuesday, insisted planning was the key to success. "We have worked hard in our preparation," he said. "I think we deserved the win."
