Bulgaria continued their quest to reach the UEFA European Under-17 Championship in Italy this summer with a comfortable 2-0 Elite round victory against Finland in Blagoevgrad.
Cruise control
Kiril Kachamanov's side had the better of the opening Group 4 game, even missing a penalty as they cruised to victory thanks to goals from PFC Levski Sofia duo Nikolai Petrov and Marian Ognyanov.
Petrov precision
Petrov opened the scoring just before the break after being brought down in the area. Referee Panicos Kailis awarded a spot-kick and Petrov himself stepped up to give Bulgaria the lead.
Iliev miss
Bulgaria continued to dominate the game and could have doubled their lead ten minutes into the second half, but PFC Lokomotiv Plovdiv's Dimitar Iliev missed from the spot.
Ognyanov strikes
However, Iliev made amends eight minutes later by providing Ognyanov with a perfect pass to make it 2-0 and set the home side up for the game against on Tuesday against Belarus, who today defeated Finland's next opposition, Russia.
