Substitute Nicolas Lambert scored what could prove to be a vital equaliser as Switzerland salvaged a 3-3 draw against Belgium in Zielona Gora, leaving both nations and Poland in contention to reach the UEFA European Under-17 Championship finals when Group 4 concludes on Thursday.
Drama
The Red Devils took the lead in the 26th minute through Cor Gillis, but found themselves behind at half-time as Fabian Frei scored twice for the Swiss, the latter a penalty. Eric Abrams's young Belgian team staged a fightback of their own after the break as Dieter Wittesaele (58) and substitute Jelle Vossen (74) made it 3-2. There was time for more drama, however, as Lambert popped up to leave the game all square, and the group on a knife-edge.
All to play for
Both Switzerland and Belgium have four points after two games, although the Swiss - who meet third-placed Poland (three points) - in their decider have scored a goal more. Belgium will fancy their chances of improving their goal tally when they conclude against the bottom team Slovakia.
