Spain shut out
The Czech Republic forward was suspended for their fixture with Spain in Ettelbruck, but his team-mates fought out a 2-0 win, and the clean sheet meant Bojan Krkić, who started his first finals game for Spain, could not move ahead of Necid on four goals. Likewise Aarón Ñíguez remains one behind, and due to suspension will not be able to add to his tally in the third-place play-off.
One more chance
Then, in the second semi-final, Germany were defeated 1-0 by Russia, meaning Manuel Fischer too remains on four goals. However, Krkić and Fischer still potentially have one more chance to move into the outright lead in Sunday's consolation match in Mondorf, while Necid is again available when the Czechs play Russia at the Josy Barthel stadium.
