A trip to the 2009/10 UEFA European Under-17 Championship finals in Liechtenstein is the ambition of the 52 nations in the qualifying round draw at 16.00CET on 3 December in Nyon.

Thirteen groups
The teams in the draw will be split into two pots based on their coefficient, with the associations ranked 1 to 26 in Pot A and Pot B comprising the countries ranked 27 to 52. The teams will be divided into 13 pools of four including two teams from Pot A and two from Pot B, to be played in autumn 2009. The winners and second-placed side from each section, together with the two best third-placed sides overall, will qualify for the Elite round the following spring, which comprises seven groups of four teams. The seven Elite round group winners join the hosts in the 2010 final tournament.
