France step on to Group 7 summit

France are one win away from the UEFA European Under-17 Championship finals after moving to the top of Elite round Group 7 with a draw against Norway.

One point ahead
On Tuesday Les Mini-Bleus beat Belarus 3-0 while Norway lost 4-0 to Denmark. However, Denmark's 2-1 defeat by Belarus earlier today gave mini-tournament hosts France a chance to seize the initiative at the André Darrigade Stadium and although they fell behind when a Mushaga Bakenga shot was deflected into the net on 16 minutes, Alexandre Coeff claimed a hard-earned equaliser from the penalty spot. France take on Denmark on Sunday knowing a win would take them to the finals in Germany, though a draw would be enough if Belarus fail to beat eliminated Norway.
