Switzerland boosted their hopes of reaching a second straight UEFA European Under-17 Championship final tournament after Haris Seferovic struck a late winner against Poland.
Close group
Grasshopper-Club striker Seferovic scored the equaliser that gave Switzerland a 1-1 draw against Elite round Group 1 hosts Greece in their Thursday opener and, in a tight game today, he struck with nine minutes left after combining with Janick Kamber. Switzerland now trail Greece by one goal after they gained a 2-0 win against the side defeated by Poland on Matchday 1, Slovenia.
Tuesday task
To qualify, Switzerland must defeat eliminated Slovenia on Tuesday and hope Greece do not gain a victory against Poland that maintains their goal difference advantage. Poland need a win against Greece to be combined with Switzerland failing to take maximum points.
