UEFA have announced the referees and assistant referees who will officiate at the 2001/02 UEFA European Under-19 Championship finals. The list includes a female assistant referee, Nelly Viennot, from France.
Four Norwegian officials
Hosts Norway will provide two referees – Espen Berntsen and Tommy Skjerven – and two assistant referees - Geir Åge Holen and Odd Arne Vangen. Otherwise F.Y.R. Macedonia (Emil Bozinovski), Slovenia (Darko Ceferin), Portugal (Paulo Manuel Gomes Costa), Estonia (Sten Kaldma), Greece (Georgios Kaznaferis) and Croatia (Edo Trivkovic) all provide one referee each.
One female assistant referee
The assistant referees come from Switzerland (Matthias Arnet),Romania (Dan Robert Lazarescu), Luxembourg (Francois Mangen), Northern Ireland (John McDowell), Hungary (Tibor Vamos) and France (Nelly Viennot).
Tournament starts on 21 July
The tournament kicks off on 21 July with Norway against Slovakia and Spain against Czech Republic from Group A. The following day sees England play Germany while Belgium play the Republic of Ireland in Group B. The two group winners contest the final in the Ullevål stadium in Oslo on 28 July.
