Paolo Berrettini's side went in front after eleven minutes through Luigi Della Rocca but they had to wait until the 40th minute to add to their advantage through an individual effort by Raffaele Palladino.
Laner double
Two became three in the 53rd minute when Simon Laner struck from the edge of the area. Christoph Bühler's foul on Palladino then gave captain Francesco Lodi the chance to score Italy's fourth from the penalty spot before Laner then his second goal of the evening, scoring with a free-kick on 67 minutes.
Consolation goal
Liechtenstein at least gave the home supporters in Balzers something to cheer when Martin Büchel scored a consolation goal a minute later.
