The accident happened on Monday evening as Albiol was travelling to Madrid to seal a loan move to Getafe CF. The car he was travelling in skidded and swerved off the motorway. Albiol suffered multiple injuries and had to be flown by helicopter to the nearest hospital in Cuenca. His father and agent escaped with minor injuries.
