TURKEY 1-1 GERMANY
Dieter Eilts, Germany
It may sound stupid but you cannot reproach the players. They produced a very good display, and above all showed everyone that they can play football. We simply needed to score in the first half. In the second half, when you need to win a match, you have to open up more and inevitably the opposition will have chances. I hope for the team's sake that the end is not remembered, rather their achievements in this game and earlier [in a 3-1 victory] against Poland.
SPAIN 4-1 POLAND
Armando Ufarte, Spain
We have no second team - all the players are equal. We played in a calm way, controlling the game very well. We had lots of chances to score and did so four times, which is very hard to do when you consider the fact we are playing against teams of a very high level. The tactical key to the game was our collective skills and style of play. The players made the right passes at the right moment and they defended very well.
Andrzej Zamilski, Poland
I think the Spanish were the superior side tonight, and are technically very good. In fact, in my opinion, they are the best team in the competition. We have not even managed to finish third in the group, but there is still a lot to be satisfied with. For last two years we have done good job. I hope some of the boys that played in this tournament will be future senior national team members, and they should qualify for the Olympic Games in 2008. Regarding the players, I must say we were very lucky during qualifying games in Austria and not so lucky now. Here it was not that good, and for example goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski, outstanding before, now conceded a lot of bad goals. But it was not only this; maybe my boys became distracted and were just not concentrated enough.
