Stalemate suits neither side

Denmark 1-1 Moldova A draw in Morecambe leaves both nations out of the running for a place in Northern Ireland.

Denmark and Moldova played out a draw in their second UEFA European Under-19 Championship Elite round Group 1 fixtures that left both nations unable to reach the finals in Northern Ireland.

England qualify
Group hosts England defeated Denmark 1-0 on Saturday, while Moldova lost 5-0 to Sweden, meaning both sides playing in Morecambe tonight needed victory to keep their hopes alive. As it turned out, a win would have been in vain for Denmark and England's dramatic and ultimately group-clinching victory against Sweden would have meant that the Danes would have been out of the running even if they had defeated Moldova.

Rudac equaliser
Indeed, Denmark did take the lead just before half-time through Michael Jakobsen. But 21 minutes from the end Nicolai Rudac equalised to give Moldova a creditable point. They now play England on Wednesday in Blackpool while Denmark, third on goal difference, will look to overtake Sweden by defeating their fellow Scandinavians in Bury.
